What is a Septic Riser?

A septic tank riser is a pipe composed of plastic, fiberglass, or concrete that connects two septic tanks. It creates a vertical gateway at the ground level for simple examination and pumping out of the septic tank. The lid is then exposed or covered with a thin layer of dirt and vegetation. Some risers are sold as a kit and installed by a professional or a handy DIYer. Any modifications to your septic tank or system must be inspected by your county's environmental health department or another licensed inspector.
